What Did You Make This Week?

Here's what I did this week - some crochet and some paper crafting.

Since the hat I made last week was such a success, I decided to use that template (but smaller size, of course) to make the hats for Anne's twins for this coming winter. They will be about 3 months old at the time (depending on when they are born, of course), so I made a newborn size. And since I didn't have to fool around with the pattern or anything, it went pretty quickly. I made both of these yesterday - in the same day! It took me about an hour to do each hat. I'm getting fast, eh? I am going to put pom poms on them, I just have to purchase the color yarn I'm looking for.

I also made this little soap holder. It's just a template, of course, since I want to use 100% cotton yarn for this project, and I don't have any - I have mostly acrylic. So this is my tester. As you can see, it's a little big for the bar that I have in there, so I need to use 1 or 2 less stitches in my initial chain, and I think I'll use a triple crochet instead of the double crochet I used in this one. I will have to make another one with the triple crochet, just to make sure. I got the button from my gramma (thanks!), and I think it adds a cute touch, as opposed to the usual drawstring closure you usually see.

Now, on to the paper crafting. I needed a bookmark; and since I don't have any (where have all the bookmarks gone?), I decided to make one! I used a shimmery white paper, which I cannot seem to catch in a photograph. The shimmer is subtle, though, so maybe you can't photograph it . . .? I like the sentiment I ended up using; I had a few to choose from, and I liked this one best. I am a simple girl, I like clean and simple items, so this bookmark is perfect for me.

I've had this card on my list of things to make for quite some time, and I finally got around to making it! I had to create and cut out the heart shape, since I didn't have a template or anything. I do now! The card stock is heat embossed to give it a pattern and texture. I really like the way it turned out. I will probably make more in a few different colours and patterns too. It would be great for weddings or anniversaries, or bridal showers, or Valentine's Day, wouldn't it?

I also made another masculine card, but I'm just remembering now as I type this that I didn't take a picture of it. I'll have to add it in next week's post.

So that's what I made. What did you make this week?

  1. I have some cotton yarn for you

  2. This week I made birthday cards using my new Flower Fest SU set. I also found some interesting buttons...do you still need some? Marianne Bailey

  3. I think I'm okay for buttons right now, Marianne, but I may ask you in the future, if that's alright with you. :)

  4. Shirley! Can I order one of those heart-shaped cards? Our anniversary is coming up and I've been looking for a great card to give to Tom - that one looks perfect!!
