    14 DIYs for Valentines :: Day 9

    This is certainly not something that I could even imagine trying to do, to my head or to anyone else's head. But it looks so cute, that I'm sure at least SOME of you can do something awesome with hair.

    What You’ll Need:
    • Wide-tooth comb
    • Fine-tooth comb
    • Hair clip
    • Ponytail holders
    Time:
    15 minutes
    Step 1: Starting with damp hair (either towel-dried or misted), use a wide-tooth comb to detangle the hair.  Then, using a fine-tooth comb, part the hair down the middle of the head.  Clip one side up right above the ear.
    Step 2: On the other side of the part, use the fine comb to gather a thin section of hair from the crown.  This section should measure about 2 inches from the hairline to the top of the head.
    Step 3: Divide this section into three, and begin a French braid starting at the crown and curving toward the temple, then toward the back of the head, like the top lobe of a heart.  You will be lifting hair into the braid only from this side of the part.  Leave no loose hair in front of the ears.
    Step 4: When you reach the center part at the back of the head, secure the braid with a ponytail holder.  If the hair is very long, end the braid about midear; the ends will hang down the back.
    Step 5: Unclip the hair on the other side of the part and repeat the process.  Secure with a ponytail holder.
    Step 6: Join the ends of the braids together in the back with a ponytail holder to form the bottom point of the heart.

    14 DIYs for Valentines :: Day 8

    The original link from this pin is broken, but this DIY looks fairly simple. This could be done on canvas, board, wood, anything that is stiff. Paint it red and place white letter decals on top. If you don't want to do decals, you can always paint the letters in white - which might require a few coats.

    Wrap the middle of the board with red and white baker's twine, and tie on the heart, punched out of patterned card stock.

    Remove all the crayons from their wrapper.

    Use a pencil sharpener to sharpen the crayons to get all the shavings.

    Sprinkle the shavings between two sheets of wax paper, then iron the sheets together.

    Punch or cut hearts from the wax paper and use the sewing machine to sew them together.

    Voila!

    14 DIYs for Valentines :: Day 6

    This is a beautiful way to utilize vintage bottles and yarn to create a beautiful Valentine's Day mantle in your home! Now, if I made these, I would have NO where to put them, since Isabel would destroy them in about 12 seconds (she can destroy pretty much anything in 12 seconds. that's all she needs). But they are really pretty to look at.

    Glue the heart.
    Adhere it into the frame.

    Voila! A beautiful heart frame! Perfect for placing on your mantle or hanging in your front entrance.
