Handmade Gift Idea :: Cowl

This month I'm starting a series that will last until mid December. I don't know about you, but to me, Christmas is right around the corner. I know we have Thanksgiving and Halloween first, but it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas gifts, right?

I can't think of a better gift than a beautiful handmade cowl (or scarf). I prefer cowls, because they mostly stay in place - my scarves are constantly losing their place under my coat. Here is a cowl I finished earlier this week. I know I'm not the best model, but I am all I have. lol

Here it is doubled up, ensuring that no cold air will seep through.

Here it is in it's full length - it goes halfway down my torso - lots of versatility here!

And if you need to cover your head, and you didn't bring a hat, this cowl can double as a head covering and used to keep your neck warm. BONUS!

I really love this yarn; it is a chunkier yarn, oatmeal in colour, with a thinner yarn of chocolate brown wrapped around the oatmeal yarn, giving it extra visual texture. I had never crocheted with yarn like that, so it was a little difficult at first (it also could be because I had never crocheted a cowl before). I hope you like it.

And don't forget - you can always make these as a gift to yourself too!
