Meet My March Sponsors!

Come and say hi to all of my beautiful sponsors!
I know there are a lot of them, but they are all fantastic women,
and they are all worth getting to know better!

Emma from The Written Nerd & Sovereign Sea Designs
The Written Nerd - Etsy Shop | Facebook | Twitter | Wanelo
Sovereign Sea Designs - Etsy Shop | Facebook | Twitter

Tell us about yourself. The Written Nerd is inspired by my love of being a librarian, my nostalgia for dead technologies, and my magpie-like hoarding of tiny objects. I love being a librarian and have a lifetime obsession with books. Growing up, I learned how to use the card catalog to find the books I was looking for - it was like a treasure hunt, and the catalog was the map.

What is your favourite season? Autumn has always been my favorite. We get fantastic foliage here in New England, and I prefer cooler temps and love the smell of leaves. When I was young, I also loved school - the start of the school year meant new school supplies and a new beginning! Lots of people think of New Years, or even spring as the new, clean slate - but for me, fresh starts begin in September.

Are you running any promotions right now?  I am happy to offer free shipping worldwide to the readers of Trees.Hides. with the coupon code "OrangeReader".

Jo from 42things

Tell us about yourself.  My name is Jo. I'm a very normal, down to earth person. What you see is what you get. I'm extremely thick skinned, although I am loyal and try to see the best in everyone and every situation. I'm a mom of two and a wife of one. We are a very home based family, homeschooling, both me and my husband own our own businesses, I make as much stuff from scratch as I have time for (kinda went out the window with Etsy though ;) and I'm willing to try almost anything once unless it's immoral or dangerous.

What is your biggest pet peeve? ummm... right now it's being labelled a nonconformist. There's just so many things about that that bug me.

Are you running any promotions right now? I have a clearance section here.

Stacy from The Little Red Button
Etsy Shop | Facebook | Twitter | Blog

Tell us about yourself. My name is Stacy Blair! I am a structural engineer focusing on masonry conservation of Canada's Parliament Hill buildings by day, and a paper connoisseur by night! Originally a paper card stop, The Little Red Button was started as a creative release from my technical day job. After planning and crafting my wedding in October 2011, I came to realize my true passion for paper - creating paper flower bouquets for lovely brides around the world! The Little Red Button offers custom heirloom quality paper flower bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, headpieces and accessories to add a unique dimension to your wedding and every day life!

What is your biggest pet peeve? Right now, it seems to be unorganized spaces!! I am currently planning to transform a room in my house into my studio so I can have a dedicated area in my house for creating my bouquets. Right now, any level surface serves as my work bench, which is just not ideal! ha ha

Are you running any promotions right now? A free boutonniere with the purchase of a bouquet if you mention "Trees.Hides".

Sabina from Crochet Gallery
Etsy Shop | Twitter | Facebook

Tell us about yourself. Hi! My name is Sabina Harnage. I live to create! I knit and crochet scarves, cowls, hats, etc. All items in my shop are my own design, except for traditional table covers. I follow fashion and made items that are in style, but with my own spin on it. My items are unique and well made. I always use the best and softest materials.

What is your biggest pet peeve? I hate when someone touches me with wet hands!

Nadia from Sameheart Designs

Tell us about yourself. My name is Nadia and I am an American textile artist living in Germany with my very fun husband and darling baby girl. I started weaving in 2000 because I loved sewing and wanted to make my own material because I couldn't find what I wanted on the market. At the same time, I started to learn about ecology and sweatshops and that really motivated me to work towards an ethical, handmade life. On the artistic side, I adored the arts of traditional people and that greatly inspired me to dive into my own creative source. Over 11 years, I have really honed in on the best materials, methods and colors and have developed my own style of designing. I weave colorful and unique scarves and blankets made with organic and natural fibers, and I completely avoid synthetics. Handmade is so special and makes like gorgeous!

What's your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is the buzzing of a television playing in a room nearby or the sound of landscaping machines. I think the lawnmowers and leafblowers sound bothers me more, though. ;)

~~~~~
Lindsay from LDC Designs
Tell us about yourself. Hello! I am Lindsay, the girl behind LDC Designs! I am a third year environmental student who loves photography, craftyness, and anything inspirational. Stop by my blog for some photography tips, photoshop downloads and DIYs.
What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve would probably be... actually, now that I think of it, I think I have a lot of pet peeves... like bad drivers, people who say 'schedule' the wrong way, leaving the toilet seat up, etc, etc. haha.
~~~~~

Jennifer from Lounge About Pillows

Tell us about yourself. I love to create! It's my passion, it's my life. Creating, for me, is a lifestyle. My mind never shuts off from an artistic mode. New ideas are always brewing and I have to force myself to concentrate on one thing at a time, or I'd be all over the place!
I love that Etsy has grown into such a large market place online for crafters, artists, vintage sellers and suppliers. This allows everyone like me to take what they love doing, utilize their talent and chase a dream.

What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is dishonestly and disrespect. I know that's two, but they are tied.

~~~~~
Michelle from Michelle Chang Jewelry
Tell us about yourself. I am based in NYC in a hip area of Brooklyn. My jewelry may be described as organic, nature or geometry inspired. My main materials are gold, sterling silver, diamonds, and semi-precious stones. I strive to make my jewelry feel current yet wearable for many years to come.
What is your biggest pet peeve? As perfect as I strive to make all my jewelry, my biggest pet peeve is when a customer complains about an order that is unjustified. Thankfully, that doesn't happen very often.
Are you running any promotions right now? I'm offering 10% off any customer who mentions "Trees.Hides." in the Note to Seller section of the checkout process.
Christa from Anista Designs
Tell us about yourself. Hi there... my name is Christa and I am the face behind anista designs. I have a BFA in Fine Arts/specialization in Design. I am also a lover of all things paper and love to craft with my hands! I began anista designs in November of 2011 and quickly expanded - specializing in modern, vintage inspired invitations, stationery and paper goods for a variety of special occasions. It has been an honour to be selected to be the "first impression" of many special days.
What is your biggest pet peeve? hmm... pet peeve? In life, it would be people who don't take responsibility for their negative actions, rude people and those who do not show kindness towards others (ie. holding the door open, etc.). And in business? Customers not acknowledging that it takes time to create handmade items and that large orders typically cannot be rushed out in 2 days (specifically ordering items, requesting them to be completed yesterday and not paying attention to the fact that we are based in and ship from Canada). This would be my biggest pet peeve. The vast majority of my clients are kind and exceptionally wonderful (a small sampling are less than pleasant, but I try not to think of them often), so I seldom have to deal with rudeness when creating specialty items for people.
Are you running any promotions right now? I am actually going to be bringing a new person into the world in the month of March! I am going to add to the population sometime near the mid-end of March! Stay tuned! :D
  1. how nice to get to meet everyone. but I have to say I feel connected to Emma the most. I love going to the library, I always have, but I miss those old bulky card catalogs...they never broke down or went off-line, lol. And I believe e-readers will be the downfall of society, hahahaha. I personally will (probably) never own one for myself. There is just something about words on paper, the feel of a book, the smell of old books...I love that smell.
